I remember eating lunch in the auditorium with my farmhouse lunchbox and thermos. I work for the Justice Department in Washington, DC and hope to retire in the next few years. We played punchball and running bases on the streets. At JHS 59 my friends were Rita Simon, Ronnie Kanner, Linda Lee, Naomi Becker, Susan Bayliss and Raymond Wong. I was born in Laurelton and lived at 135-02 232nd St. Nothing but great memories about growing up in Laurelton. 156 and JHS 59 and then chose to go to Brooklyn Tech while almost all the rest of my friends went to Andrew Jackson. Lived on 226th St just off Merrick Blvd with my older sister Barbara. It was the best place to grow up in the 50s and 60s, lots of time outdoors, hanging out with great friends and neighbors, barbeques, badminton, comic book exchanges, listening to music and comedy albums together. and I remember when our zone 13 designation first became a zip code of 11413. My best friends at 132 were Laurie Dringus, Barbara Cohen and Susy Schwarz; at 59 I became friends with Annie Defalco, and Lauri Bente (Benveniste), who tragically was killed several years ago. I remember so many things - the diversity of "treats" along Merrick Rd.; walking to jr congregation at the LJC; riding bikes with my friends all over the neighborhood without concern of any danger; the all-day movies for a quarter; Tom's Barber Shop. I have traveled a lot, raised two wonderful sons, and lived in the several parts of the country. He was married, had 2 children and now has 3 grandchildren. My husband and I bought our first home in Laurelton where we lived until we moved to Syosset in 1970. I now live in Teaneck, NJ, have three children and three grandchildren. PS 156, JHS 59, Springfield Gardens HS, Laurelton Jewish Center.the kids..many to even mention. My sister Yvette lives in Fresh Meadows and my brother Louis lives in Syosset. Married to another Laureltonian Elliot Hochman, class of 62. I lived at 224-05 137th Ave the big white house between 224 & 225 St. I used to hang out with Tom Ferrara, Joe Barillari, Ronnie Levine, Marty Blank, John Ventura, Pete Cohen, Mark Fishman, Harvey Krauthamer, Lou Kravitz, Jack Zipper, Eileen Kaye, Rhona Toline, Arlene Goldstein, Marilyn Goldstein, Carol Bernstein and many others. Miss those simple lazy summer days playing handball, stoopball, stickball and softball in the "156" yard. I moved to Laurelton but south of the Belt Parkway in 1964. My good friends were George Parker, Ira Hutner, Andy Calia (who recently died) Paul Gural and Richie Allen amongst others. I now live in Stamford, CT with my wife Rhonda Jacobs and our three boys. What a great website - gave me the desire to want to reach out to everyone I grew up with in Laurelton in the late 50s and very early 60s. 59 and played basketball for Coach Jerry Able and ran track with the second fastest kid Steve Levine. Bell for Spanish and we would just marvel at her chest. I left NY shortly after college and worked for AT&T Laboratories in Texas and Missouri. and hanging at Burt’s Busy Bee on Merrick and Francis Lewis. Taught at Riverhead HS with Alan Weinstock right out of college. My son is a third year medical student and my daughter is a freshman at Hamilton College. Although I was only 9 when we moved, Laurelton was always the best. Lived next to Arthur Mack, Howie Miller, Harvey Blumenfeld, Gary Weinstein, Joel Levine & Beatrice Brown. I have so many wonderful memories of growing up in Laurelton. Now we are old enough to appreciate what that sense of close community means, and how much it shaped who we all are today. Lived at 131-64 229th Street with my sister Ellen  & Debby [SGHS 1970]. She was a sweet kid and suffered a great loss when her Dad, Nick, died of a heart attack in the summer of '62 or '63. After graduating in 1960, I attended the University of Michigan and graduated from NYU uptown in 1963. I would love to hear from friends from those times. I lived in Laurelton all my life until I married by husband Mel in 1971. I'm learning to play bridge and I'm doing line dancing! I am now inspired to dig out my scrapbooks and photo albums. I'm retired living in NC now and the Laurelton site brings back so many wonderful memories. Have three fantastic children and have been married for 30 years. Miss all my friends and "hanging out" at Bert and Dave's on FLB. Laurelton was one of the best places to be at, the right place, at the right time. I returned to teach at Antioch, 1975-95, then was hired by Macalester College in Saint Paul to Chair the Polsci. My time in Laurelton were the happiest years of my childhood; no community I resided in since matched the warmth and nurturing I so fondly recall. Our block, 124th Street & 137th Ave., was loaded with kids and definately the best place for a "punch ball" game....stoop ball was at my house! Clair's in Rosedale in 1964 then went to SGHS and graduated in 1968. I remember when I walked to Green Acres, I remember La Tasca Pizzeria and The Pizza King. We proudly marched each year in the Memorial Day Parade. Was a charter member of Laurelton Volunteer Ambulance Corps 1964-1969.
